How to request account and data deletion

How to Delete Your Thumbly Account

You can delete your Thumbly account directly from within the app. Follow these steps:

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open the Thumbly app on your device
  2. Go to Settings by tapping the gear icon (⚙️) in the navigation bar
  3. Scroll down to the "Account" section
  4. Tap "Delete Account" (shown in red)
  5. Read the warning about what will be deleted and tap "Continue"
  6. Type "DELETE" in the confirmation field to confirm
  7. Tap "Delete" to permanently delete your account

What Data Will Be Deleted

When you delete your account, the following data will be permanently removed:

  • Profile Information: Your username, display name, bio, and profile picture
  • Account Credentials: Your email address and authentication data
  • Your Polls: All polls you have created, including images and questions
  • Your Votes: All votes you have cast on other users' polls
  • Your Comments: All comments you have made on polls
  • Messages: All direct messages you have sent and received
  • Followers/Following: All your social connections
  • Notifications: All your notification history

What Data May Be Retained

Some data may be retained in limited circumstances:

  • Anonymized Analytics: Aggregated, non-identifiable usage statistics
  • Legal Compliance: Data required to be retained by law (e.g., transaction records, legal disputes)
  • Security Logs: Moderation and security logs may be retained for up to 90 days to prevent abuse

Data Retention Period

  • Immediate: Your profile and content are removed from public view immediately
  • Within 30 days: All personal data is permanently deleted from our servers
  • Backups: Data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before being purged

Important Notes

  • This action is irreversible. Once deleted, your account cannot be recovered.
  • You must be logged in to the account you wish to delete.
  • Active subscriptions should be cancelled before deleting your account to avoid future charges.

Can't Access the App?

If you cannot access the app to delete your account, you can request account deletion by email:

Please include the following in your request:

  • The email address associated with your Thumbly account
  • Your username (if known)
  • A statement requesting account deletion

We will process your request within 30 days and send confirmation to your email address.
